Revitalize Dull Skin with Micro Needling

March 21, 2016

One of the most effective means of rejuvenating the skin is to induce regrowth. Micro needling is a process that causes small openings in the skin. These tiny openings quickly heal, and the body fills them in with collagen, new skin tissue and nutrients containing growth factors.

Dulling skin is a major problem for millions of adult men and women. The dullness can be caused by environmental factors, as well as genetics. As we age, our skin becomes thinner, and the body finds it more and more difficult to discard any damaged tissue. This is why acne scars, other scars resulting from injuries and age spots tend to remain for years, sometimes for the rest of our lives.

We highly recommend micro needling to rejuvenate the skin and diminish the appearance of discolorations.

Why Micro Needling Works

Abrasive skin resurfacing techniques strip away the upper dermal layers, and this promotes new skin growth. Unfortunately, many individuals react negatively to this form of skin rejuvenation. It often doesn’t treat discolored regions because the scars or spots are located in the lower dermal layers.

Micro needling is more effective because the tiny openings are deeper. Because the areas created by the tiny needles are separated by healthy skin tissue, the body can effectively use these unaffected cells to produce new tissue at every depth of the skin.

When skin heals, new capillaries also form, and this helps the new skin growth receive the maximum amount of nutrition.

What the Process Involves

Before we decide to perform this procedure, we consult with our client and take a close look at the facial features. We mark the areas where dull skin growth occurs and determine the depth of any discolorations.

We then run a special instrument with micro-sized needles onto the area. The instrument has controls that set the penetration depth. The pen is placed on the skin, and the needles are projected through the skin layers.

Ongoing Care

After the procedure is completed, we advise our patients to use a sunscreen and to cleanse the treated area each day. Some redness occurs, but this soon disappears. If we feel it is necessary, a skin care antibiotic cream may be prescribed.

Advantages Over Other Resurfacing Treatments

Micro needling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is minimally invasive with no surgery involved. It is effective for all skin types and skin tones. It involves natural healing processes rather than the introduction of fillers, or plumping agents.
